As easy as apple pie…

Right before Christmas one of the pages I follow on Facebook announced that they were having an original recipe contest using their product, Rogue River Cheese.   It didn’t have to be blue, but hey, when you’re cooking with Rogue River cheese, it’s gotta be blue to be truly wonderful.  I’m not sure exactly what made me want to actually submit a recipe.  I didn’t have anything that I was known for making…you know the recipe that everyone gets super excited about…but after reading their post, I went to bed and lay there for a while racking my brain trying to get inspired.  I knew that the majority of recipes would be of the savory category.  Pasta with cheese sauce, grilled steak with blue cheese butter, some type of pizza with complementary veggie/cheese/meat mix…all of which are completely amazing, but I wanted to do something different.  Something that would stand out from the rest.  If I was going to win this contest..it had to be good!

Who Saves Who?

**So I won’t be seen as a plagiarist, I am posting this blog with the note that this was a paper I wrote in November 2009 for my Writing 122 Class. It’s a bit clunky, but have always wanted to post it on my blog.

I used to day dream about saving my sister Elaina. The scenarios were quite simple, I would contact Richard Simmons, and he would knock on her door and become her personal weight loss guru. Or I would move to Kansas, and do it myself. It always seemed like it would be so easy, and the feeling I had in my heart and stomach whenever I thought of these things was so positive. But my family was in denial, especially my mom, so even mentioning Elaina’s ‘problem’ was taboo. So I did nothing, I said nothing, and it will be a regret I carry with me the rest of my life.
